What is 20% of 150?
Multiply 150 by 0.20 to get 30. In general, "X% of Y" is Y multiplied by X/100. The percent-of mode does this for you as you type.
How do I calculate a percentage increase?
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100. For example, going from 80 to 100 is (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = a 25% increase. The percent-change mode handles increases and decreases automatically.
What does "what percent is X of Y" mean?
It tells you what share one number is of another: divide X by Y and multiply by 100. For example, 30 out of 150 is 20%.
Percentage vs percentage points — what's the difference?
A change from 10% to 15% is a rise of 5 percentage points, but a 50% increase in relative terms. Percentages describe proportional change; percentage points describe the absolute gap between two percentages.
